AUTOMOTIVE EVENTS ARE BACK

Goodwood Festival of speed came back for 2021.

Last year’s event was hosted online due to the Covid -19 pandemic.

Organisers this year launched a new attraction for 2021, called the Electric Avenue-The Road to 2030, it was an area dedicated to the expanding pure electric vehicle (EV) market. Showcasing everything from dinky city cars to 1,000 bhp plus battery powered hyper cars.

As the nation makes the move over to EV, Goodwood enlisted industry specialists to address consumer questions. As consumers adopt all electric vehicles there are many consumers that still have questions and queries, so what better time to answer and share knowledge about what is available and the benefits.

Manufacturers are revealing their plans to ditch combustion power by the end of the decade, with the government’s announcement that the sale of pure-petrol- or diesel-powered cars will be outlawed in 2030, supporting the net zeros emissions for the whole of the UK by 2050. This dedicated area helped promote electric vehicles to Goodwood-goers.

As well as the new electric area, Goodwood delivered what it does best, with the world’s biggest car brands strutting their stuff with historic racing cars, classic models, and exclusive brand-new products. Ford showcased their all-electric future with a full line-up of road, competition and concept cars, Mustang Mach-E GT took centre stage.

Goodwood going ahead this year was effectively the first full scale motor show to go ahead on European soil since the cancellation of the Geneva Motor show 2020.
