NEARLY THREE QUARTERS OF BRITS HAVE NEVER BEEN IN AN EV

Recent research by Appinio says that nearly three quarters (72%) of British people have never been in an electric vehicle (EV), either as the driver or passenger.

The research was carried out on 2,000 people in the UK aged between 16 and 65, shows there is a still work to do amongst the Automotive Market. The general public still haven’t been exposed to EVs enough to help them become more familiar with the technology behind them.

Additional further research says that 51% claim to not know anyone who owns a EV and only 15% of people are learning about EVs from friends and family.

As the 2030 banning of new registration combustion engines fast approaches, the Automotive Industry need to do more to educate consumers about EVs and how they work. A UK fuel shortage causing motorists to go without fuel and facing long queues, resulted in the industry experiencing a 60% rise in web searches for EVs, indicating a surge in interest. However, we can’t rely on fuel shortages to increase peoples interests in EVs, there is a lot more the Automotive Industry can do outside of that.
